Dream baby: India is on a collision course with China

India is in the middle of a major confrontation with China with the backdrop of a dream baby in the midst of a severe drought.
China is reportedly planning to ban all imports of Indian wheat products.
While China has not commented on the matter, a top Chinese diplomatic source told The Hindu that the government in Beijing is preparing to crack down on Indian wheat exports to China.
India is also expected to retaliate against China over the border issue by imposing border controls on the two countries.
According to sources, the Indian government has asked the Chinese border police to set up border guards to control the flow of Chinese wheat.
The Indian border guards are to patrol the border to ensure the safety of India’s farmers.
On Sunday, a Chinese news channel reported that China will ban all Indian wheat from entering the country, including wheat from the northern states of Assam, Punjab and Haryana.
Sources said that a senior Indian government official had met with Chinese border officials to inform them about the steps being taken to tackle the situation.
While the Chinese government has not officially confirmed the report, it has denied reports that it had imposed border controls in the region.
A Chinese official told The Times of India on Tuesday that China had no intention of closing the border.
The official did not elaborate.
In recent years, China has been in the news for various reasons including the seizure of a Chinese satellite in 2014 and the abduction of a Taiwanese fisherman by Chinese authorities.
