Dreaming Sands, a supernatural TV show that follows two sisters who are drawn together by their dreams, has been renewed for a third season.
The CW, which will stream the new series in 2017, is developing a sixth season, the network said in a statement.
“We are very excited to be able to continue the Dreams Sands franchise with Dreamers, the dream-stalkers of Dreaming Sand.
Dreamers is a new story that will explore the incredible journey and personal growth that many dreamers experience each season,” said Nina Teicholz, president of original programming at The CW.
Dreaming sands, based on the popular video game series, follows two teenage girls as they journey through a series of events and challenges that ultimately lead to their ultimate transformation.
The show, which stars Emmy Award-winning actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, is a popular fantasy show on the CW that has spawned a spinoff series on Netflix and several spinoffs on Disney XD.
Dreams sands stars Rachel Keller, who also stars on ABC’s The Goldbergs, and Sarah Paulson, who is also starring in Disney XD’s Disney’s The Lion King: The Legend Continues.
“Dreams sands is an incredible show, one of the most popular in its genre,” said Teicholez.
“Rachel and I are thrilled to be back to tell a story that resonates with viewers around the world.”
Teicholtz also noted that Dreamers will be a continuation of the Dreaming Sessions series.
“The Dreamers franchise has been such a huge hit that we’re thrilled to have Dreamers return to the network,” she said.
“Its a testament to the quality of the creators that they have such an amazing group of dreamers.
They’ve really built a show with such depth, and it has brought the fans such joy.”
Dreamers also stars Julia Louis and Sarah J. Blum, and premiered in 2013.
